ASAP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers has been found not guilty in a felony assault trial. The rapper, who has two kids with Billionaire, Rihanna, would have been condemned to more than two decades in prison if he had been convicted of the alleged attack on a former friend in Hollywood in 2021.
While seated in court, waiting for the final judgement to be pronounced, the Grammy nominee was found not guilty and in an emotional moment, jumped over to hug the people who mattered the most to him.
First his mother, his sister, to his mother and all the way to the love of his life, Rihanna, whose facial expression mirrored her relief.

Prosecutors alleged that A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Mayers, fired a semi-automatic gun during a dispute with A$AP Relli in Hollywood on November 6, 2021, injuring his hand.

Asha reacts to ASAP Rocky's freedom, Rihanna's role
Nigerian singer Asha Gangali reacted to CNN's video of ASAP Rocky's in the courtroom while the verdict on his case was given.
Asha Gangali's comment under the post reads:
"Somehow I beat the charges like Rocky👏. Congratulations"
Legit.ng reached out to the singer who had lived a better part of his life in the US to explain his comment which many misunderstood to be that he was once in that same situation as ASAP. Clarifying it Asha said:
"This was not my experience but a quote I extracted from Jay Z's smash hit song 'Izzo' produced by Kanye West on the Blueprint album back in 2001. I've always been in tune with the hip-hop culture, so I understand what the verdict will mean to the culture. So watching ASAP Rocky beat a federal charge is something that's almost impossible to do, with an 85% conviction rate. The federal prosecutors are not to be played with."

"Those perceptions are based on the lack of understanding of how the American judicial system works, ASAP Rocky had very good lawyers. Moreover, it was a jury trial, so it was a fair and transparent process that made headlines on major media platforms.
